This is a re-configuration of a traditional Irish cottage and stables to create a modern family home on the West coast of Ireland. The original stone cottage is wrapped by more contemporary lightweight structures to provide circulation and make a connection to the landscape, to bring in light and to create a flexible space for children on rainy days.

The new house makes extensive use of roof lights at front and rear of the internal spaces. The openness of the ground floor is created by extending corridors which lead to a series of internal bedrooms and en-suites.
