Wilton Square is a grade II listed Victorian house set in a fine East London Square. The brief was to bring some light and order to a house that was not suitable for purpose. The design converts an unwelcoming lower ground floor into a real living space providing direct access to a renovated and excavated garden via a new infill extension.
The pallet of materials has a continuous theme extending from inside to out with the use of glazed bricks and douglas fir providing a constant. Overall, the house retains the original features of the listed house and while the new elements introduce light, space and substance.
